One step forward, Two steps back

I have to admit massive failure at the moment, too many cakes and bikkies, the Coke has crept back in, but not every day at least. One upside is that I have started drinking a LOT more water, and I have noticed that the cramping I used to have all the time in my legs has eased up.
If anyone has some great low sugar - sugar free baking recipes I would be really greatful for them, I think the swap it approach might work the best for me.

One week today!!

Well, one week in, and only one stumble. Monday was horrific, the girls drove me round the bend, so I caved and had a scotch and coke with dinner.
It was great!! I am not admitting defeat however, I will give this poison the flick!!
From http://weheartit.com
I was explaining my attempts to rid sugar from my diet to a friend of mine on Sunday (especially the coke) and she said - well just don't drink it. It only it were that easy! I had to reply that this is my ciggarette - the sugar and caffeine combo is not so easy for me to break away from. Next step will be all those naughty treats that go along with my coffee........

Easy does it or Cold turkey?

Well, a couple of days in and so far so good.  I've been so busy the last two days that I haven't really had time to miss that mid afternoon 'pick me up' that usually consists of a can of coke and something sweet.
At the moment I'm trying not to be too hard on myself - as long as the Coke is out of the picture I'm happy, but should I be trying to go cold turkey and not touch anything sweet at all?
The test will come for me tomorrow - I have to work in the morning but will need break my usual habit of grabbing a cola as soon as I get home. I have the soda water at the ready as my substitute and a hubby ready to slap my wrist if I touch the bar fridge!!

It begins

I didn't want to journal this stuff on Wherever the day takes you because I would like to separate what these posts are for. I am hoping that this will act as a support system and motivation to do what I need to do - reduce my consumption of and dependence on sugar based food and soft drink.
I hope to build up a cache of great linked websites to recipes, tips and reminders that this will be A GOOD THING!! - and worth any short term pain.
